Surah Ikhlas is short but very precise Surah in Quran Kareem. Surah Ikhlas is on 112th number in the 30th Chapter of Holy Quran. Surah Ikhlas has Four Ayahs, Fifteen words and Forty Seven letters.

Revelation of Surah Ikhlas:

Every surah in Quran Kareem has its own importance. But this surah is significance because it clarifies the concept of “Tauheed” in very short and precise manner. In the early days of Islam, the Jews and Christians asked Holy Prophet ﷺ who is ALLAH. So this Surah reveal on our beloved Prophet ﷺ in the answer of their questions and mocking.

Translation of Surah Ikhlas:

[Ikhlas 112:1] Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “He is Allah, He is One.”

[Ikhlas 112:2] “Allah is the Un-wanting.” (Perfect, does not require anything.)

[Ikhlas 112:3] “He has no offspring, nor is He born from anything.”

[Ikhlas 112:4] “And there is none equal to Him.”

Surah Ikhlas in the light of Hadith:

It was narrated by Hazrat Aisha (R.A):“ALLAH’s Messenger ﷺ used to perform two Rakat before Fajar and He used to say: ‘the best two Surah to recite in the two Rakat of Fajar are: “Say: ALLAH is the One” [Surah Al-Ikhlas, 112] and O you disbeliever” [Al-Kafiron, 109]. (Sunan Ibn Majah, 1150)


Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:

A man heard another man reciting (Surat-Al-Ikhlas) ‘Say He is Allah, (the) One.’ (112. 1) repeatedly. The next morning he came to Allah’s Apostle and informed him about it as if he thought that it was not enough to recite. On that Allah’s Apostle said, “By Him in Whose Hand my life is, this Surah is equal to one-third of the Qur’an!” (Sahih Bukhari, 5013)
